Okuma Fishing USA is introducing a monster new reel for land-based shark fishing: the 80-Wide Makaira SEA-Land Based Shark Edition reel. This reel has been made in collaboration with some of the top land-based shark anglers to make for an exceptionally strong and durable reel that can hold up to a big hammerhead or tiger from the beach. Like the other two sizes of the Okuma Makaira SEA-LBS Edition reels, the new 80W features a 6061-T6 machined aluminum frame that comes with forged sideplates. This gives the reel incredible rigidity and stability even when under the massive 70/100lbs of drag pressure the reel is capable of putting out. The gearing of the reel is all 17-4 grade stainless steel helical cut gears that provide a ton of torque for winching in big sharks. Additionally, the spool is a cold forged, Type-II anodized, machined aluminum spool that offers easy and smooth line management even under heavy loads.
