Do you want to go on an expedition—a hunting trip, or maybe a fishing trip or even a wildlife photography expedition—and you want to bring everything? The new KUIU Waypoint 10000 Roller won’t let you haul the kitchen sink with you, but it will allow you to bring just about everything else.
KUIU’s marketeers say the new bag is “the ultimate travel solution for expedition hunters who demand ruggedness, organization, and protection for extended-duration hunts.” It’s specifically designed to meet the needs of bowhunters, with some useful features that will make your slog through the airport easier.
Specifically, the Waypoint 10000 (named for its 10,000 cubic inch capacity) has a tough polycarbonate shell that fits into a powder-coated aluminum frame. No matter how brutally your baggage handlers assault this luggage, it should hold up.
The clamshell design opens to reveal a compartment in the bottom that can carry a bow up to 40 inches long (measured from the outside edges of the cams); that compartment comes with a padded sleeve to keep your bow safe, and retention straps to keep it in place while it has its wonderful journey through the baggage system and into the plane’s cargo bay.
Other purpose-built compartments including a pocket for your boots and a longer pocket that’s the perfect size and length for tent poles, a tripod for your optics or camera, or maybe even a compact multi-piece fly rod.
The exterior of the bag is covered in abrasion-resistant 840-denier ballistic nylon with a waterproof coating, with YKK AquaGuard zippers. Once you’re unloaded from the plane, if your trip to your final destination includes a boat ride or maybe your gear is stowed in the back of a pickup truck during a rainstorm, your stuff should stay dry.
A set of 3.5-inch wheels help you maneuver the bag around when it’s fully loaded, and handles on top make it easy to gaff on and throw it into the back of your truck.
