First Impressions and Build Quality

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

The first thing that stood out was how light this pack felt.  The 330D nylon body keeps it nimble, but Vertx reinforced the stress zones with 500D panels and finished the whole thing with YKK locking zippers and heavy bar-tack stitching. It’s water-resistant enough to handle light rain on the ramp, and the hardware feels secure.

It’s clear to me that Vertx designed this to be more overt than covert. This is a different design philosophy than I have seen on a lot of their other products and bags. The laser-cut MOLLE panels can hold additional gear, and the loop-lined interior means you can mount hook-backed organizers or a holster insert for additional organization.  At 11.5 inches wide, 20 inches tall, and 8.5 inches deep, it hits a 25-liter capacity that’s right in the sweet spot for short-range missions or when the colder months begin to creep in and you need to keep an extra jacket in your bag.

Organization – Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

Where the Siege really shines is in organization. Every compartment feels intentional. The main compartment opens wide for full access, something I value when I’m swapping gear during preflight or repacking mid-mission. Inside is a double-layer laptop sleeve that easily fits both a 15-inch laptop and a tablet (or a Honey Badger). Beneath that sits a mesh admin panel for chargers, cables, or checklists, and a soft-lined upper pocket perfect for NVGs, sunglasses, or a small GPS.

The front stretch pocket is a workhorse. It expands enough to swallow a jacket, flight gloves, or even a helmet, but compresses flat when not in use. The stretch material is forgiving for soft gear but less friendly to bulky shapes I load it with an oddly sized comms box, and it’ll look misshapen. Still, for field work, it’s an outstanding dump space for bulky or additional cargo.

Vertx also added side compression straps, hydration routing, and a hidden access panel for soft or rigid armor inserts. That armor compartment doubles as a concealed-carry space, fully loop-lined for a holster or retention system.

Comfort

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

The Siege balances its weight well. The shoulder straps are sculpted and padded just right for long wear, and the back panel uses breathable foam channels that keep airflow moving.  Fully loaded, the Siege rides close to the body, and the stowable waist belt helps anchor it during movement or when on a long Ruck. It’s not meant for extended loadouts or 50-pound rucks through rough terrain, but for the urban or aviation environment, where you’re moving through tight spaces, vehicles, and flight lines, it’s just right.

Materials and Construction

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

Vertx walked the fine line between light and durable. The 330D nylon body keeps weight down (around 2.9 lb empty), but the 500D reinforcements give the Siege enough backbone for daily abuse. The water-resistant coating is fine for mist or rain, but don’t expect it to handle sustained downpours or saltwater spray without a rain cover.

The zippers deserve credit — they’re smooth, secure, and the Rapid Access pull tab is one of those small features that make a big difference when you need to get into your bag fast. Vertx’s loop-lined architecture means you can reconfigure the internals with Tactigami or other hook-based organizers, tailoring the loadout for pilot tools, med gear, or EDC kits.

Best Uses

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

The Siege 25L is ideal for aviators, tactical professionals, and travelers who need organized performance. In the cockpit, the rectangular footprint slides neatly behind or under a seat. The top pocket keeps sunglasses and flight gloves instantly accessible, while the main compartment easily swallows tablets, charts, and a headset.

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

Pros

  • Streamlined, professional tactical styling
  • Excellent modular organization with CCW/armor compatibility
  • Lightweight for its capacity (2.9 lb)
  • Comfortable, breathable carry system
  • High-quality zippers, stitching, and build

Cons

  • Too many small pockets — easy to lose track of items early on
  • 330D body fabric isn’t bombproof for field rucks
  • Premium price might stretch budgets

Wrap Up

AllOutdoor Review - Vertx Siege 25L Tactical Backpack

At the end of the day, the Vertx Siege 25Ls design philosophy is less about brute strength and more about readiness. It’s the pack I grab when I need to move fast, stay organized, and carry gear that matters while wearing the uniform. Whether you’re running aircrew checklists, ground support, or travel, it offers the right balance of capability and subtlety.
