The deeper down the metaphorical rabbit hole that hunters, shooters, and outdoorspeople venture the more they will slowly begin to realize how important medical equipment – and understanding how to use and deploy it – is. My journey into using individual first aid kits (IFAKs) and other equipment started decades ago with Band-Aids, and now I know how to deploy chest seals and am a First Responder on my community’s volunteer fire department. Because of the position I am with helping people, I always have a medical backpack with me to be prepared for anything. So, in this AllOutdoor Review, we are going to take a look at the Tasmanian Tiger TT Medic Assault Pack MKII to see how it performs out in the field. Let’s dive in!

What’s the Upsell? What’s the 30-Second Elevator Pitch?
So, what’s the upsell? What’s the metaphorical and literal 30-second elevator pitch? For the Tasmanian Tiger TT Medic Assault Pack MKII, you’re looking at several prominent traits that might tip the scale in favor of Tasmanian Tiger as opposed to a competing manufacturer at a similar price-point.
- Cordura Fabric (700 Den): Excellent strength-to-weight ratio… military-grade filament fiber… resistance to abrasions, tears, and scuffs… stylish versatility… consistent, long-lasting performance
- YKK RC (Racquet Coil) Zippers: Specially designed for luggage applications where resistance to abrasion is a must. This zipper was precision engineered to meet the toughest performance requirements.
- WOOJIN Plastic Hardware: For a half century WOOJIN has been creating exceptional, yet intuitive, human-nature interface for all outdoor activities. Their side release buckles, zipper pulls, tension locks, and cord locks have inspired top designers worldwide to innovate the next generation of outdoor products.

What’s in the Bag?
One of the most common and recurring questions I receive reviewing products and their related accessories is, “what’s in the box?” Or, maybe in this case, it might be more appropriate to ask, “what’s in the bag?” Meaning, what do you all get with your purchase. This is important because what you do and do not get will dictate what type of accessories you need to additionally buy depending on what you want your end-product to be. All this being said, this is everything that you will receive:
- TT MEDIC ASSAULT PACK MKII
- Multiple tear-away, Velcro pouches
- Exterior MOLLE System
- Webbing to Adapt a Panel Carrier
- Detachable shoulder straps

Field Use – Tasmanian Tiger TT Medic Assault Pack MKII
So, how does the Tasmanian Tiger TT Medic Assault Pack MKII perform out in the field?… My previous medical backpack that was rattling around in the back seat of my truck was a “backpack.” Not a medical one. Simply a plain ol’ backpack that had medical equipment strewn about on the inside, which is not ideal at all. So, moving into this TT Medic Assault Pack MKII was an enormous upgrade.
To kick things off, I first emptied my old backpack, took an inventory of the medical equipment I had, sorted it, and then decided how I would arrange the contents into the new TT Medic Assault Pack MKII. The items varied from simple medicine, ointments, bandages, wound packing material, various medical tape, chest seals, and a lot more.
As I began to transition equipment into this new pack, I started with filling the removable Velcro pouches. These are handy because if I am working in tandem with a friend at a gun range, a family member while farming, or I simply need to rip some contents out of the bag (literally tear them out for easier handling), I can do that with ease.
Some of the larger medical items that I carry with me – like splints, a respirator mask, a specialized bee sting kit, and other large equipment – I chose to stow underneath the large webbing area where it wouldn’t be cumbersome or impede me working with smaller medical tools.
Compared to the medical duffel bags and backpacks that I carry and utilize on my fire department, I really like (and prefer) how Tasmanian Tiger organizes and sets up their medical backpacks like the TT Medic Assault Pack MKII. All of the compartments and pouches can easily be accessed and opened up so nothing is buried or hidden. In high-stress situations or being under duress while assisting someone medically, I find that incredibly helpful.

Final Thoughts – Tasmanian Tiger TT Medic Assault Pack MKII
So, what are my final thoughts on the Tasmanian Tiger TT Medic Assault Pack MKII?… Overall, some people might flinch at the price of the backpack, but you need to bear in mind this is not something to go to the library with. It is a clever and intelligently-designed pack specifically for medical use. So, with that in mind, I find this backpack to be a great value for everything it offers at a price of $279. It is incredibly high quality, well laid out, and sleek (it shouldn’t snag on other equipment and items inside my truck). So, I can absolutely say with confidence that I fully endorse this pack for anyone who invests in one.
