Whether it is for recreation, defense, competition, or hunting, you can find something that will trip your trigger that is already on the market today. One attribute or trait within optics that is growing in popularity is the color green. Red dots have been a bread-n-butter mainstay for decades, but more and more shooters are getting clued in on the power of green. It is a higher intensity color on the wavelength spectrum. So, it gives you a more crisp and bright dot for all of your dot optics. Vortex Optics is always on the cutting edge of trends and implementing new technologies. So, of course, they have a brand new green dot for all of us to check out: the Crossfire Green Dot 2 MOA Dot. Let’s dive in and take a look at it today!

What’s in the Box? – Vortex Optics Crossfire Green Dot 2 MOA Dot
One of the most common and recurring questions I receive reviewing products is, “What’s in the box?” Meaning, what do you all get with your purchase. This is important because what you do and do not get will dictate what type of accessories you need to additionally buy depending on what you want your end-product or weapon system to look like. All this being said, this is everything that you will receive:
Included in the Box
- Rubber Cover
- CR2032 Battery
- Torx® T-10 Wrench
- Lower 1/3 Co-Witness Mount
- Low Mount
Field Use – Vortex Optics Crossfire Green Dot 2 MOA Dot
So, onto the most important part… how did this green dot perform out in the field?… To test the Crossfire Green Dot, I mounted it on one of the ultra new Springfield Armory Kuna pistols. Why not test a new green dot on a new pistol, right? Mounting the green dot was incredibly intuitive and simple. It is exactly like its red dot predecessor in that you have 2 mounts and a simple Torx screw for retention on the side.
It was befitting also because I used the new Vortex Pro Torque Wrench to mount the Crossfire Green Dot to the Kuna. As one would expect, everything worked together nicely and it took a matter of minutes to choose my preferred mount and get it all nicely put together.
Once mounted and loosely bore-sighted, I set about sending rounds down range. For this review, I did not do a formal paper zero. Instead, the Springfield Armory Kuna was so accurate and consistent – as well as the Crossfire Green Dot – that I actually zeroed the green dot on freshly painted steel targets. I could see my hits easily, knew whether that most recent was off either up/down or left/right, and simply made the appropriate adjustments by removing the windage/elevation caps and then using the cap itself to apply appropriate input.
A green dot is typically a color and dot-type that lends itself to those who have some type of vision impairment, or flatly, individuals who have difficulty seeing red. I have nearly perfect vision, thankfully, and I still found this to be an even more crisp dot with an even brighter intensity (even on sunny days). So, while I have never sought out green dot optics in the past, it was very apparent why so many people appreciate them.
Over the course of a long range session testing out the Kuna, the Crossfire Green Dot never waivered. It simply maintained its zero once achieved and displayed a confidently crisp, defined dot for me to make steel plates sing all day long. The glass was clean, clear, and the housing is more than robust for long range sessions and use on a personal defense weapon (PDW) like the newly unveiled Springfield Armory Kuna.
Final Thoughts
So, what are my final thoughts on the Vortex Optics Crossfire Green Dot 2 MOA Dot?… This green dot delivers on all of its promises: a more crisp dot, still consistently clean glass, a rock solid zero, and multiple mounting options. I, personally, own 4 Crossfire Red Dots because they are simply such a good value for the money. Now, the green dot option is simply another option for people who might have some kind of vision impairment, or flatly like the sight presentation of green. Even at full MSRP of $219.99, this is a good value and a good investment in an optic for your firearm.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Vortex Optics for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new Vortex Optics Crossfire Green Dot 2 MOA Dot. That is greatly appreciated.
