Hunting and shooting with a tripod have become mainstream activities. Whether you are a competitive shooter, a western mountain hunter, or someone hunting in the deer woods of the Midwest, a tripod has become a critical piece of gear. Vortex recently introduced the Pro Rifle Clamp Tripod Mount, allowing a shooter or hunter to easily adapt a tripod to any rifle. While some tripods use Arca-Swiss (a standardized dovetail from the camera world), Arca isn’t found on many commonly available hunting rifles. Therefore, unless the firearm is modified, another solution is necessary. The tripod mount works by applying clamping force to the sides of your rifle, shotgun, or crossbow’s forend, keeping it rigidly in place. This function works well for the everyday hunter and shooter who isn’t looking to modify their firearm.
Vortex argues that the Pro Rifle Clamp Tripod Mount “is the quick-deploying, intuitive, lightweight solution hunters and shooters have been asking for.” Made from magnesium, the new Vortex mount adds barely a pound to your gear. Additionally, mounting it to an existing tripod is a breeze. It adapts to any Arca-Swiss or 3/8”-16 screw pattern (which is standard for most tripods). By adjusting the side lever, the Pro Rifle Clamp Tripod Mount adjusts from 1.3” to 3.2”, which means there likely isn’t a hunting arm it can’t support.
Using a tripod for hunting and shooting provides a stable position for all types. It is especially helpful for young or new hunters and shooters, as well as for those with physical disabilities who are unable to hold a rifle, shotgun, or crossbow. Regardless, anyone can enhance their shooting experience with one.
