Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout Single Shot

AllOutdoor Review: Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout Single Shot

Having reviewed and owned the original Rossi Brawler (.410/.45 Colt ), I was curious to see what Rossi would do differently with their new .300 Blackout version. The concept remains the same, a simple, rugged single-shot that bridges the gap between pistol and rifle, but this new chambering opens up some interesting possibilities. Let’s dive into the complete review!

Rossi Coverage on AllOutdoor:

Specifications: Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout

The gun comes with an optics-ready rail system and a threaded barrel. No iron sights are included, but honestly, that’s fine – this thing begs for a red dot anyway. The threaded barrel is a nice touch that immediately opens up suppressor possibilities. Combined with the rail system, Rossi clearly had versatility in mind with this design.

  • Caliber: .300 Blackout (they came out with a 5.56 too!)
  • Capacity: 1 Round
  • Action: Single Action
  • Barrel Length: 9.00 inches
  • Overall Length: 14.00 inches
  • Overall Height: 5.90 inches
  • Overall Width: 1.30 inches
  • Weight: 48.50 oz (unloaded)
  • Twist Rate: 1:8 RH
  • Grooves: 6
  • Frame Material: Polymer
  • Barrel Material: Alloy Steel
  • Barrel Finish: Matte Black
  • Frame Finish: Black
  • Safety: Cross-bolt safety
  • Front Sight: None
  • Rear Sight: None (rail installed already)

At $324.99, this is reasonable for what you get. The build quality is solid, it comes optics-ready, has a threaded barrel, and chambers a legitimately useful cartridge. You’re not going to find many other options in this price range that offer the same combination of features.

“The rugged single-shot adventure gun just got even more versatile. Now chambered in 5.56 and .300 Blackout, the Brawler keeps its break-action simplicity, optic-ready rail, and go-anywhere toughness—perfect for campers, hunters, and truck guns alike.”

First Look: Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout

Right out of the box, the first thing you notice is how chunky this thing is. The barrel is seriously hefty – much thicker than the .410/.45 Colt version I’m familiar with. It feels substantial in hand, like it was built to handle the pressures of rifle cartridges without breaking a sweat.

Rossi Brawler

One surprise was discovering this model uses an extractor rather than an ejector like the original .410/.45 Colt version. Not a deal-breaker, just different from what I expected based on my experience with the earlier model. The original Brawler ejector was pretty anemic anyhow, so it makes sense.

Range Time: Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout

I mounted a red dot and headed to the range with both supersonic and subsonic .300 Blackout loads. The 220-grain Remington subsonic stuff was particularly interesting to test, especially considering the suppressor-friendly nature of this platform. At 25 yards, accuracy was more than acceptable with the red dot. I’m confident this thing would group even better with a proper scope, but for what I was doing, the dot worked fine.

The action isn’t as smooth as I’d like. You can’t just hit the release and flick it open like some break-actions; you need to pull down on the barrel while working the button. This might smooth out with use, or it might need some polishing. Either way, it’s not a huge issue but worth noting.

Rossi Brawler

Recoil was essentially non-existent. The hefty barrel and overall weight of the gun just soaks up whatever the .300 Blackout dishes out, especially with a can on it. Shooting was comfortable and controlled. The safety operates intuitively – same cross-bolt design as other Brawlers. Simple and foolproof.

Rossi Brawler

This gun sits in an interesting niche. For hunters in pistol-only zones, it’s a legitimate option that delivers rifle-like performance in a handgun package. The .300 Blackout cartridge gives you real versatility with both supersonic and subsonic loads.

But honestly, where I see this shining is as a fun gun or a foundation for something more. There are braces and stocks available that can mount to this platform, essentially turning it into a very short .300 Blackout “SBR” (or pistol with brace). Add a suppressor to that setup, and you’ve got a quiet, compact package that would be a blast to shoot.

Final Thoughts: Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout

The Rossi Brawler .300 Blackout is a solid entry into the single-shot pistol market. It’s well-built, very reasonably priced, and chambered in a versatile cartridge that opens up possibilities beyond just hunting. The hefty barrel and overall construction inspire confidence, and the threaded muzzle makes it suppressor-ready out of the box. While the action could be smoother, and you’ll need to add your own optic, these are minor issues considering the price point.

Whether you’re looking for a hunting pistol, a foundation for a fun build project, or just something different to take to the range, the Brawler .300 Blackout delivers. It’s not fancy, but it works, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Rossi Brawler

In closing, I want to thank Rossi for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their Brawler .300 Blackout. What do you think? Is this the kind of platform you’d consider for hunting or just range fun? Would you go the brace/stock route for a compact setup? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
